Danielle’s Letter (January 2021)
As you probably know, the founding musicians of the Israel Philharmonic were Europe’s leading Orchestra musicians who were given the opportunity to flee Nazism by the courageous visionary Bronisław Huberman.
This month, on January 27th, we will be recognizing the annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In observance of this significant event, this issue focuses on friends of the Israel Philharmonic of all ages (ranging from ages 17 to 99 in this newsletter!) who are utilizing creative ways to foster Holocaust education and awareness.
When patrons in the United States ask me why they should support the Israel Philharmonic instead of their local orchestras (which are also worthy institutions), I give the following answer: “Because it’s about more than music. We are about memory, community, meaning, freedom, innovation and excellence. Mostly, we are about a great dream that never gave up.”
Keep dreaming with us for a better, more beautiful tomorrow. Happy 2021 from all of us to all of you.
