Yigal Meltzer has served as Principal Trumpet of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra since 2001. He joined the Orchestra in 1991 after studying in New York with leading trumpet players Philip Smith, Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, and James Pandolfi, Third Trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Yigal has appeared as a soloist many times with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Israel and on concert tours overseas under the baton of conductors including Maestros Zubin Mehta, George Pehlivanian, Kazushi Ono, and Mendy Rodan.

He appeared as a soloist with leading Israeli orchestras, including The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem, The Tel Aviv Soloists, The Beer Sheva Chamber Orchestra, and Musica Nova. He has also recorded several solo recitals for the Israel Radio.

Yigal is a member of the Israel Philharmonic Brass Octet and the Israel Philharmonic Brass Quintet. He gives regular masterclasses in Israel, Europe, the United States, South America, and Australia.
Yigal holds the position of trumpet teacher and faculty member at Tel Aviv University.
