Dmitry “Dima” Malkin was born in 1976 in Ukraine. He immigrated to Israel with his family at age thirteen. A graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Dmitry completed his Master in Orchestral Performance in 2005 at the Manhattan School of Music under Joseph Robinson. Since 1993, he has been a recipient of the American-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship. His performance credits include the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Dmitry has been a member of the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra since 2004 and a member of the UBS Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra since 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he performed in the Hyogo Performance Art Center Orchestra in Japan under Maestro Yutaka Sado’s baton. From 2012, he performed in the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra as an English horn player. Between 2014 and 2017, he played as a Principal Oboist in the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Dmitry joined the IPO in 2017.
