Shemuel Hershko joined Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 1978. Prior to that, he studied with two of the world’s greatest tuba players — Roger Bobo in Los Angeles and Arnold Jacobs in Chicago — with the help of an America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship.

Shemuel is very active both as a solo performer and as a chamber musician and has appeared as a soloist with the Israel Chamber Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. He is a member of the Israel Philharmonic Brass Quintet.
